What a cookie does here
A cookie is a short piece of text that a site asks your browser to store and send back with the next request. This site asks for two. Both are set by eigenvector.group, both are needed for the enquiry form to submit safely, and both are gone when you close the browser.
The two cookies we set
- eg_session — created when you open the enquiry form. It holds a random identifier that ties your submission to the page it came from. It expires when the browser closes.
- eg_csrf — created at the same moment. It holds a single-use token proving the submission came from our form and not from another site. It expires when the browser closes.
Neither cookie holds your name, your email address, or anything you type into the form. Neither is read on a later visit, because neither survives one. No page on this site other than the enquiry form sets a cookie at all.
Why no consent banner appears
Consent is required before a site stores something on your device that is not strictly necessary for a service you asked for. Both cookies above are strictly necessary: without them the form cannot verify a submission and will refuse it. A banner asking permission for something you cannot decline is not a choice, so there is no banner.
The state privacy laws that apply to us regulate something different: selling personal information, sharing it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and profiling. None of the three happens here, so there is nothing to ask you about and nothing for you to opt out of. The privacy notice at /privacy.html sets out the rights those laws give you and how to use them.
If this site ever sets a cookie that is not strictly necessary, a consent control will appear, it will default to off, and this page will name the cookie before it is set.
What we do not set
- Analytics of any kind, first party or third party
- Advertising, retargeting or conversion tags
- Social media pixels, and share buttons that report back to another company
- Embedded video or map frames that set cookies of their own
- Local storage, session storage and device fingerprinting
There is no counter running behind the pages. We know how many requests the server answered, from the logs described below, and we do not know who read which field note.
The one file loaded from someone else's server
The pages load the IBM Plex typefaces from Google's font servers. Those files set no cookie, but the request carries your IP address and browser user agent to Google. Nothing else on this site — no script, no stylesheet, no image, no frame — is fetched from another company. The same exception is named in the privacy notice, because a page that claims no third-party contact while making one is worth less than no page at all.
Server logs are not cookies
The web server records each request: the IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the response code, and the browser user agent string. That happens whether or not you accept cookies, because it is how the server works. The logs are kept for 30 days and are not linked to either cookie above. The detail is in the privacy notice at /privacy.html.
Blocking or deleting the cookies
Your browser settings will block or delete cookies for a single site. Blocking them for eigenvector.group has no effect on reading any page, because no page other than the enquiry form sets one. The form itself will refuse to submit. If that is where you find yourself, write to enquiries@eigenvector.group and a named person will answer within one working day.
Changes to this notice
This notice is reviewed each quarter and whenever a cookie is added or removed. The date at the top of the page is the date of the last change.
